• Rationality of theta characteristics
  A theta characteristic is a square root of the canonical bundle. We give some criteria for determining when a curve over a local field has a rational theta characteristic.

• Extensions to WC IV
  These notes extend results of Pete L. Clark's "Period-index problems in WC-groups IV: a local transition theorem" (to appear, JTNB). In particular, we make precise the relationship between the period and index of principal homogeneous spaces for abelian varieties over C((t)).
