Trier, Germany's oldest City
My home town is filled with Roman monuments (Porta Nigra, Amphitheater, several
Therms[baths],...) and other historic sites (a splendid cathedral, Karl Marx's birth place,
the huge Basilika and a historical district with buildings from all kinds of
architectural periods). On top of everything, its location on the river
Mosel (a major vine producing region in Germany) makes it one of the most beautiful
cities in Germany. Hey, the Romans knew what they were doing when they
decided to rule the parts of their empire that were north of the alps
from here, 2000 years ago!
