Larger Map Territory Puds "Building Map" Standard Ladder |
General Overview Politics Unit Stats Achieving Titles |
3:50 AM on 5/22/97 -- New system for the territory games. They are totally independent from one another. I mean there is no crossover of resources from playing this original set to the other territories.
5/19/97 -- There is no ladder system for the conquest game, but there will be titles achieved through game play. I am working on a title system using the one provided by blizzard. You can find it below.
5/11/97 -- I am taking away the ladder aspect for this area. It will just be an on-going struggle for land and resources -- no points. For those interested in ladder stuff, check out the "Standard Ladder" -- you can always use these puds for your games, they will just not be associated with ladder standings.
5/11/97 -- Initial Placement on the puds has been made because I wanted to get this thing going and it would never happen if I tried to get everyone to play a ffa at the same time (learning from what happened with the standard ladder tournament). I am placing players on territories and if they are not interested then the territory is consider abandoned and up for grabs by its neighbors. If you own a territory, you must be available for at least one game a week to defend it (if you are challenged that week -- you may not be and thus don't have to battle unless you attack someone else that week). If players make a reasonable effort to accomodate your schedule for you to defend your territory and you do not play, it is assumed you were neglecting your territory and it fell to the challenger. You can always come back to reclaim it through battle, but the game must go on!
By playing on the set of maps comprising the land above, players take over territories and then must defend them. Each territory amasses wealth (gold) and value in points (used for achieving titles). The longer a territory is held, the more points are awarded to the holder and the area. These points are gained by challengers who successfully seize the territory. Along with points, the wealth acrued by a territory increases with the time (due to civilization/stability). When a challenger takes over a territory, the land production goes down to either a quarter of the previous state or to the default production level for that territory -- whichever is greater. It is assumed that death and destruction after a takeover reduces the productivity of the area.
You may use your gold any way you wish, including bribes. Before attacking a neighbor, you may want to pay off the other neighbors so they will not attack right after. You could offer to split the bounty afterwards if you are not sure you can take it over. You could even gang up on the individual -- but don't forget that the defender may have aliances too! This is where the extra strategy and fun comes into this type of on-going battle.
