Phi Alpha Theta
Membership Requirements
CSUSM Undergraduate Students
12 units of History (four courses) with a GPA of 3.1 or better in History and an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. Membership is not limited to History majors.
Lifetime Membership in Phi Alpha Theta is only $40 and entitles the individual to receive two publications: The Historian and the News Letter for one year. The balance exceeding subscription costs is added to the endowment scholarship fund.
Local Chapter Membership requires an annual dues payment of $20 annually ($10 per semeseter).
CSUSM Graduate Students
Graduate students should have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours towards their Master's Degree, have a GPA of better than 3.5, and have completed approximately 30% of the residence requirements for the Master's Degree.
CSUSM Faculty Members
Faculty members above the rank of Instructor who teach History automatically qualify, pay the same induction fee, and receive the same membership privileges.
Note: Faculty Advisors are encouraged to invite their fellow faculty to join Phi Alpha Theta
