Holocaust Survivor David Fabor spoke at CSUSM on Thursday, November 18, David Faber, the author of Because of Romek: A Holocaust Survivor's Memoir, captivated an audience of over 140 people in ACD 102 as he recounted his experiences during the Holocaust. Mr. Faber witnessed the murder of his parents, his brother, and five of his sisters, but managed to survive the ordeal of eight different concentration camps before being liberated by allied soldiers. His personal testimony brought many in the audience to tears and put a human face on one of the most tragic events in modern world history. At the same time, Mr. Faber's story offered an inspirational account of the heroism of his brother, his own struggle to survive, and his fierce conviction that it is only through remembrance of the Holocaust that we can prevent such atrocities from occurring in the future. Phi Alpha Theta and the History Club are proud to have sponsored this event and thank Mr. Faber for sharing his experiences and his wisdom with our campus community. |
