Hiking

I enjoy hiking as a way of connecting with nature as well as helping to  maintain a modicum of fitness.  When I lived in Arizona I did a lot of backpacking, with several trips to the Grand Canyon and Havasupai Canyon, Aravaipa Canyon, the Gila Wilderness area in western New Mexico, and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.  I enjoyed hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina when I lived there.  When I lived in Boulder, Colorado I enjoyed day hikes in the nearby mountains, particularly the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area.  I have only begun to explore the various hiking trails of San Diego County.  I have enjoyed hiking at Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve, located a few miles from campus, and I look forward to future explorations in the local area.
