The Leo Carrillo Ranch is located in the southeast portion of the City of Carlsbad, California. This Ranch was a retirement and vacation home to the famous motion picture and television actor Leo Carrillo and his family for many years. Originally the ranch was named Los Kiotes and was built in 1844 by Juan Maria Marron II. Marron sold the ranch in the late 1800s to the prominent Kelly family. The Kelly family built a two story home on the property and lived there for many years before selling it to a San Francisco broker. In 1937 this broker sold 840 acres of the ranch to Leo Carrillo, and over time the ranch grew to over 2,500 acres. Photographs of Leo Carrillo Ranch
